How the 100-point score works
The model weighs adjusted store rating 25, 4–5-star versus 1–2-star feedback 20, rating volume 15, Google Play install threshold 10, Google Play ad label 10, and fit for a home design task 20. Ratings use a 100-rating, 4.0-star prior; rating volume and installs use a capped logarithmic scale. The feedback component uses the US App Store star counts. Category fit is 20 for floor plans, 18 for AI interiors, 10 for inspiration and shopping, 8 for specialist tools, and 4 for games.
Apps need at least 20 combined public star ratings to receive a score. Missing Play installs or ad data receives the midpoint for that component, not zero. Apple does not publish app download totals; Play counts are lower-bound thresholds. “Positive” and “negative” count star ratings, not written reviews. An absent Play ad label means the listing does not declare ads; it does not verify every in-app experience. In-app purchases are shown on store pages but are not scored without comparable plan terms.
Exact formula and missing-data rules
- Adjusted stars = (400 + US App Store star points + Google Play average × Play rating count) / (100 + combined rating count).
- Rating quality = 25 × clamp((adjusted stars − 2.5) / 2.5, 0, 1).
- Feedback = 10 + 10 × (US App Store 4–5-star count − 1–2-star count) / (US App Store rating count + 100); 10 when no star breakdown exists.
- Rating volume = 15 × min(log10(1 + combined rating count) / 5, 1).
- Play reach = 10 × min(log10(1 + public install lower bound) / 8, 1); 5 when unavailable.
- Ads = 0 when Play labels “Contains ads”, 10 when that label is absent, or 5 when no matching Play listing is verified.
- Task fit = 20 for floor planning, 18 for AI interiors, 10 for inspiration/shopping, 8 for specialist tools, or 4 for games. The final sum is rounded to a whole number.
